TRAINING

Next Generation riggers regularly attend courses on the following areas, Industrial rope access trade association (IRATA), First Aid, RF radiation, Andrews products techniques and Rooftop safety. Next Generation team leaders are further trained in PPE inspection and Anritsu Line sweeping techniques. Below is a brief description of these.

Industrial Rope Access Trade Association

Rope access is a form of work positioning, which applies practical rope work to cater for the various needs in our industry. Rope access technicians provide specialist skills derived from the rigorous training requirements set by the association (IRATA).

The subject areas covered are as follows:

  • Theoretical knowledge
  • Equipment and rigging
  • Manoeuvres
  • Climbing
  • Rescues/Hauling



First Aid Course

This course covers the subjects recommended by the Health and Safety Executive:

Priorities of First Aid, Managing an incident, Roles/Responsibilities of Employers and Employees for FAW, Care of an unconscious casualty, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, Disorders of the airway, Dealing with bleed and shock, Causes of unconsciousness, Burns and scalds, Injuries to bones, muscles and joints, Poisoning, Recognition and management of major illnesses, Recognition of minor illnesses and appropriate action, Eye injuries, Miscellaneous injuries, Record keeping and accident reporting, Infection control, Communication and delegation in an emergency. Manage the transportation of a casualty.









RF Awareness

Awareness course on Radiofrequency hazards:

The aim of the course is to assist workers and managers to understand the risks from RF devices and transmitters including mobile phone antennas. The course is designed to meet the needs of any worker who may be exposed to RF signals including antenna riggers, surveyors and emergency services personnel.

Andrew Institute

Andrew Institute provides technicians with the top-quality, specialised training needed to optimise communications systems performance and reliability. Courses provide comprehensive, "hands-on" instruction for the newest Andrew products, installation methods, and theory. At the end of each course all Participants are registered for a 3 year period with Andrew as having completed Andrew Institute Coursework.

Topics covered:-

  • HELIAX Connector Attachment Training,
  • VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio), Fundamentals,
  • Base Station Antenna Fundamentals,
  • Terrestrial Microwave Systems Installation and Accessories training.










Rooftop Safety

This course provides delegates with the knowledge and practical experience to enable them to work on flat roofs in protected and unprotected areas and to work safely in a variety of exposed locations.

This course is aimed at people who actually carry out roof work or are directly responsible for managing or supervising it.

PPE Inspection

PPE Inspection Competent Person Course, Personal Fall Protection Equipment and systems.
The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and other regulations require work at height equipment to be thoroughly examined by a competent person at regular intervals

The course covers current legislation, appropriate selection of equipment, maintenance and storage of equipment, inspection of equipment and written examination reports.

This course is aimed at:-

  • Rope access supervisors,
  • Safety Supervisors,
  • Others responsible for work-sites or stores.


Anritsu Site Master Line Sweep Training Course

The Anritsu Site Master Line Sweep Training Course is an intensive two-day instructor led course that focuses on the fundamentals of line sweeping. The training course provides delegates with a sound understanding of line sweeping. Site master users' learn the technical skills needed to test and monitor antenna systems in order to resolve transmission line faults.
